Getting to know the newest Sharks

By now you know the Sharks traded for Kent Huskins and Travis Moen. Here’s some stuff you might not know.

Kent Huskins:

  • At Clarkson College, he was one of two Canadian finalists for the Hobey Baker Award honoring the top collegiate player in the United States. The other? Dany Heatley.
  • He’s been compared to Moses. Sort of. “He’s got the ability to see the waters parting, like the Red Sea, and make a play like that,” Ducks assistant coach Dave Farish said of Huskins in 2008. “He has the green light in certain situations to do that, and it’s a matter of him developing the confidence.”
  • According to a 2008 profile in the Los Angeles Daily News, he enjoys doing the USA Today crossword and likes Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm because “I find them a fascinating way of thinking about things.”
  • He scored the game-winning goal against Detroit in Game 4 of the 2007 Western Conference finals.

Travis Moen:

  • He scored seven goals in the 2007 playoffs, including two in the Ducks’ Stanley Cup-clinching win.
  • His family owns a 3,500-acre farm in Saskatchewan.
  • He appeared as himself in a Canadian TV show called “Corner Gas,” which was created by Brent Butt. No, really.
  • He doesn’t like the Dallas Stars. Enough said.
