Mo’ money, mo’ problems: Alex Smith recognized by Forbes
Alex Smith makes Forbes’ list…of the biggest first-round QB flops in NFL history. Ouch. He’s in some pretty elite company, alongside the likes of Akili Smith, former Niner backup Cade McNown, David Carr, Joey Harrington, and even Carson Palmer. Scott Wright, who runs nfldraftcountdown.com, is quoted in the article and says that the 49ers “broke every rule in the book” in how they handled Smith after making him the No. 1 overall pick in 2005. Not featured in Forbes’ “Best Bosses” issue (at left): Al Davis.
The Niners will have nine opportunities to draft another flop in this year’s draft, though we suppose it’s hard to call any pick after around the third round — San Francisco has six of those — a flop.
Jeremy Roenick, who has a goal in two games against the Blackhawks this season, looks to return to the ice when the Sharks visit Chicago tonight. Mercury News
