Never has one spring training at-bat garnered so much attention. Teen Giants prospect Madison Bumgarner struck out Manny Ramirez on three pitches today, and Manny, being Manny, called Bumgarner “nasty.”
He’s great. He’s nasty. Nineteen? Wow. That’s unbelievable. He’s great. Good fastball, good curveball and sneaky. He throws hard.
It being ManRam, one SFGate commenter dubbed the matchup “ManRam vs. MadBum.” We approve. Whenever Bumgarner does get called up, we will officially call him Mad Bum, or the Mad Bum. We will not, however, ask him to fight other bums.
Note: It looks like the Mad Bum nickname has appeared in a few places already this year. Whatever the origin, we love it.
