Bumgarner, Alderson, Crawford are movin’ on up
As Henry Schulman reported late last night on The Splash, San Jose Giants pitchers Madison Bumgarner and Tim Alderson, and shortstop Brandon Crawford, were promoted to Double-A Connecticut after last night’s game. Norwich should provide some good times for the trio. They can visit Benedict Arnold and Rajai Davis‘ childhood homes. They can relax in Mohegan Park. They can see if Engine No. 6 Pizza’s food is really as kick-ass as this Yelp reviewer would lead you to believe. And Bumgarner and Alderson can get a taste of the run support that they can expect to receive when they make it to the big leagues. Last night’s victim was Brooks McNiven, who lost to Reading despite giving up only two unearned runs. It was the seventh time this season that the Defenders (12-14) have lost a game in which they’ve allowed 3 or fewer runs. At least they have a sweet logo.
Speaking of shoddy run support, the A’s dropped their fourth straight, 3-2.
