Brian Wilson’s X and other signature moves that have double meanings
You might have read the stanky stink about Casey Blake imitating Brian Wilson’s signature “X” move yesterday. After hitting a home run off Wilson in the 12th inning of the Giants-Dodgers marathon, Blake douchily smiled and did a version of Wilson’s move in the dugout. Problem is, Blake (probably) didn’t realize the move has double meaning. Wilson’s “X” at the end of games honors his late father (a topic that was already sore, yeesh) and his faith, among other things.
Wilson was upset enough to not talk to reporters (If only he still had a Twitter feed!). Blake is sure to be plunked when the Dodgers visit next, in August. If people still remember this.
The whole incident got us thinking about some of the other local signature moves, from the Bash Bros. to the funky chicken, and what double meanings they might have.
Notice the word “might.” Very important.
