Noah Lowry envies those of us with PPOs

noah-lowryIt was a rough day for Bay Area baseball players. The A’s own Mr. Glass, Eric Chavez, revealed he’s one wrong move away from slipping a disc in his back.  It could happen picking up a shopping bag, carrying meat up the stairs, or even cutting that meat. He just doesn’t know. And if it does happen, it means spinal fusion surgery and, in our expert medical opinion, that means no more professional baseball.

Speaking of expert medical opinions, Giants pitcher Noah Lowry thinks the Giants’ doctors weren’t so expert with their diagnosis of his arm problems two years ago. He had surgery in 2007 and has missed about 8,000 games since then, and his agent thinks the Giants are somewhat to blame.

“The Giants were very diligent in having him see a variety of doctors, but ultimately it’s based on results. Regardless of how many doctors he saw in the organization, none of them was able to diagnose the root of the problem.”

The Giants responded tonight, and they are maaaaad:

“The Giants organization and its medical staff have always treated Noah Lowry’s condition appropriately and with the utmost care. We have never performed any medically inappropriate procedures on Mr. Lowry. Per Major League Baseball’s labor agreement and federal laws regarding medical privacy, the Giants are prohibited from discussing specific medical information publicly. However, we can state that Mr. Lapa’s accusations against our organization are factually inaccurate, intentionally misleading and irresponsible.”

Hmmm, “medically inappropriate procedures” makes us wonder what’s going on over at 3rd and King. Some behaviour modification, perhaps?
