BASB’s weekly baseball roundup from both sides of the Bay — and an excuse to post a photo of Crazy Crab knocking Stomper off a tricycle.

CRABS UP

Hot Stove – GM Brian Sabean is actively seeking a trade for someone – anyone – who can hit, and he’s willing to give up prospects to do it.

Offense! – For one day, at least.

CRABS DOWN

Panda’s Elbow – Manager Bruce Bochy is “a little concerned” after Pablo Sandoval reported soreness in his throwing elbow following the Giants’ game at Seattle on Friday. Sandoval will undergo tests in San Francisco on Monday.

Brian Wilson – The struggles continue for Wilson. A majority of Merc readers voted that he should shave his “mohawk,” if that’s what we’re calling it.

Playoff Hopes – Down from 9% to 5% from last Sunday.

ELEPHANTS UP

400 – A’s fans weren’t expecting it would take until May 23 for him to do it, but Jason Giambi finally joined the 400-HR club with a blast off of Arizona’s Dan Haren.

Sweeney Does It Again – This guy is a Web Gem waiting to happen. This one saved a rare win over Tampa Bay.

Vin Mazzaro – Jeff Fletcher talked to a scout who says the Oakland pitching prospect is ready for The Show. Mazzaro lowered his ERA at Triple-A Sacramento to 2.66 after allowing one hit in eight shutout innings on Friday.

ELEPHANTS DOWN

Losing – Imagine any type of game and the A’s have probably lost it.

Fading Fast – The A’s now have a 1.9% chance of making the playoffs. So you’re saying there’s a chance?
