C&E: June 28

BASB’s weekly baseball roundup from both sides of the Bay — and an excuse to post a photo of Crazy Crab knocking Stomper off a tricycle.
CRABS UP
Ryan Sadowski – Who? The rookie righthander made his major league debut Sunday, replacing Jonathan Sanchez in the rotation and working six shutout innings for the win. He also has a Wikipedia page.
Midterm Grades – A Connecticut Defenders blogger (the Connecticut Defenders blogger?) gives the Mad Bum and Tim Alderson Bs at the halfway point of the season; Henry Sosa gets an A-/B+. Cutter, the Defenders’ bald eagle mascot, get a C (from us).
Bay Bridge Beat Down – There weren’t any classic games, but the Giants took five out of six from their cross-Bay rivals this season.
CRABS DOWN
Tough Loss – If San Francisco loses the wild card race by a single game to the Brewers, you can point to this game – or any one of the Giants’ other 70-some losses for that matter.
Tummy Ache –Pablo Sandoval should stay away from whatever he had for dinner on Saturday night. Was it Panda Express?
ELEPHANTS UP
So Fine – Topps announced that Andrew Bailey is their third Finest rookie redemption card. The inserts are found one in every master hobby box, making them slightly less common than Bailey’s save opportunities.
Rickey Says – Keep the A’s in Oakland and build a new stadium in the parking lot.
ELEPHANTS DOWN
Moneyball Scripts – Jeff Fletcher breaks down the two Moneyball scripts. Steve Zaillian’s is fascinating but factually inaccurate. Steven Soderbergh’s is factually accurate but dull. It’s a wonder the movie failed.
Pity Party – Jose Canseco wants you to know that he paid the ultimate price.
Bad News Bears – It was Little League Day at the Coliseum and the A’s put on a clinic in what not to do.
