The trade was a catalyst and whether you want to solely point to the extraction of Nomar as a reason for the Red Sox’ success, so be it.

And just like that, Nomar Garciaparra – the man that became a New England sports icon – faded away into relative, injury-riddled obscurity…until Monday night.

Because stepping into Fenway Park makes you legitimate. Just ask Jimmy Fallon.

The A’s can thank Brett Anderson for the win tonight — he threw a two-hit shutout — but don’t expect fans to welcome back the A’s to Oakland no matter what happens over the rest of the road trip.
