What’s G?

GiantsOne night after scoring eight runs and watching Tim Lincecum get rocked in a wild, extra-inning win at Cincinnati, things returned to normal and all was right with the world in Giants Land. More specifically, the Giants harnessed that funky G-Style that has made them maddeningly frustrating to watch at the plate and a thing of beauty to see while on the mound and in the field.

Buoyed by Barry Zito’s fine start, San Francisco recorded its major league-leading 16th shutout of the season in a 1-0 win over the Reds. Though he received zero run support for the ninth time this eason, Zito was magnificent, allowing only two bloop hits in six innings. The only thing less blemished than Zito’s line was his face, which is more than Tim Lincecum could say after Tuesday’s start.
