Yes, Rod Benson, we blog in our bow ties

rod-bensonJ.E. Skeets, Jemele Hill and Bill Simmons, all featured in the same … rap? It’s too much, Rod Benson! Wait, that’s supposedly the point.

Benson, the former Cal big man (former Cal, still big man) and inventor of the Boom Tho movement, will apparently release a mix tape soon. And if all the raps are as awesome as the first, we will hustle on down to our local tape dealer and grab one.

Among the choice lines on Benson’s first cut, titled “Internet Dominance”:

“Back in seventh grade I had my own web site. When I asked a girl to prom I know I did it right, with a web page I made the previous night.”

“Jamie Mottram knows you can’t hate this. Always look forward to Bill Simmons’ latest.”

“I’ll get dressed up and spend the whole night in. … Blogging in a bow tie, you gotta buy in. I bet even Henry Abbot has tried it.”

Golden State of Mind has the audio and a rundown of the sports-blogging references. With the East Bay’s Mistah F.A.B. rapping about Twitter, what’s next, a rap about Warcraft? Welllll, crap.
