Giants make you sweat even on cold, cold nights

NervousGiantsFansWell the Giants won the opener of their series with the Rockies — as we enter that fun zone where EVERY series is the MOST IMPORTANT OF THE YEAR — and it was of course close. The Giants won 2-0 and have decided that they never want to win an important game by more than two runs ever again. They’re probably in partnership with Kaiser Permanente to put us all in the ER before the end of September.

San Francisco left about 38 runners on base through the first four innings and fans were grumble-rumbling about anemic offense before Pablo Sandoval hit a solo home run in the fifth. Tim Lincecum somehow pitched well despite being scared of his fastball. And Brian Wilson might have heard the ghost of “Hell’s Bell’s” wafting from the bullpen area because he sent a clear message to the Giants there’s no need to claim Trevor Hoffman and his famous entrance song off waivers.

All in all, it’s better to be by the Bay than up at a mile high. The Giants clearly think so. Tonight: Bring on Jeff Kent.
