Frye and Gradkowski set for battle royale

Cowboys Raiders FootballIf you were thinking about doing something else with your Thursday night other than watching the Raiders-Seahawks preseason game, ha, you’d better stop being an idiot and think again. There are subplots galore to get you amped for this one. Just ask Tom Cable. The showdown between Bruce Gradkowski and Charlie Frye for the third quarterback spot will be “one of the great battles” of the night, Cable said.

As if you need anything else to convince you to watch, Greg Knapp and John Marshall will be matching wits for their new teams. The fourth preseason game is the true test for any offensive or defensive coordinator. If they can manage to make the guys who will play the majority of this game look like they’re part of an NFL team and not a soccer team of 7-year olds, bravo for them.

Sadly, the Niners’ final preseason tilt will be devoid of such drama.

And finally, some amateur video of the remote-control airplane that interrupted Tuesday night’s Dodgers-Diamondbacks game. This guy’s commentary is almost as good as Vin Scully’s, which you can hear on the Dodgers’ site along with better video of the plane. The best part? Augie Ojeda ripping the thing apart after its crash landing.
