Seymour: You want me to play where now?
Of course. Why wouldn’t the Richard Seymour trade become an “issue”? Everything else is an issue, it makes sense that the one good move the Raiders made in the offseason would be one, too.
Seymour, the veteran defensive lineman traded to the Raiders on Sunday, didn’t show up in Oakland for practice today. After practice, coach Tom Cable said Seymour and the Pats still have some “issues” to work out. Issues, like who will pay for moving expenses?
No, of course the issues aren’t with the Patriots. They’re with the Raiders. Seymour doesn’t want to play for the Raiders, or so he whispered to Rodney Harrison. And Harrison told the world via Pro Football Talk:
“He’s not thrilled. Who would be thrilled to go to the Oakland Raiders?”
Oh, what, you thought that would be the end of the Raiders mocking?
“Put yourself in his position,” Harrison added. “He’s going from a first-class organization to one of the worst in the NFL. You have the head coach fighting the assistant coaches, the owner involved in the day-to-day operations, guys who don’t believe in the quarterback. . . . Tom Brady to JaMarcus Russell? Come on. Is that something to look forward to? Why would he be excited?”
Ummm, we don’t know. The Raiderettes maybe?
So it looks like another protracted battle between a grumpy player and management. And you thought the owners ran this league? Ha!
