Richard Seymour and Dany Heatley, come on down!
It’s just raining new players in the Bay Area. Now all we need is Michael Crabtree to sign and it’ll be a a full-on storm.
Richard Seymour finally accepted the Raiders’ offer from last weekend and expects to play Monday against the Chargers. He told the Boston Herald he was “blindsided” by the trade.
“When you get blindsided, you should take a moment to gather your thoughts. I have a lot of personal issues more pressing than football.”
A moment … or 518,400 (the amount of seconds in the six days between the trade announcement and Seymour’s comments today).
In the hockey world, the long-rumored Sharks trade for Dany Heatley finally materialized, and the Sharks didn’t even have to give up Patrick Marleau as rumored. Hugs for Jonathan “The” Cheechoo “Train” and Milan Michalek instead.
Heatley is a fascinating figure in the hockey world. He was drafted by the Thrashers and for a while was best known for being behind the wheel in the car crash that killed teammate Dan Snyder. He has had stellar seasons, scoring 50 goals in 2005-06 and 06-07, but scored 39 goals last year. He requested trades twice, from the Thrashers after the car accident and from the Senators this summer.
No matter what happens, it’s just nice to welcome the Bay’s two newest residents. Crabtree, you’re up. Time to crank that contract.
