Singletary for mayor…of the universe
At the end of last season, Mike Singletary’s approval rating, as measured by the diehards at Niners Nation, was a ludicrous 99.9 percent. It seems inevitable, then, that Mr. Mt. Pain’s popularity numbers will come down from there, if slowly. Following the Niners’ win at Arizona, a robust 97% of fans still approve of the job he’s doing.
Singletary’s admirers range from fans to 49ers great Roger Craig, who spoke to students at San Pasqual High School on Monday. Dennis Dillon suggests the 49ers could be a darkhorse in the NFC, but you didn’t hear it from him first.
Should Singletary decide to run for public office anytime soon — maybe mayor of San Francisco? — he could do worse than choosing Barry Zito as his campaign advisor. The Z Man was dominant Tuesday against the Rockies, helping the Giants pull to within 2.5 games of the wild card. Justin Miller has some extra time on his hands after being shut down for the rest of the season with elbow inflammation. He would be a worthy pick, too.
…Other linkage, not including a gerbil and a tree frog reenacting Brandon Stokley’s miraculous catch to defeat the Bengals. Take that, stupid NFL rebroadcasting policy…
