Giants’ playoff hopes continue to roll away
If Tuesday night was in fact the end, it’s been real. Following the Giants’ 10-8 loss at Arizona, McCovey Chronicles declared that San Francisco is “most assuredly out of this thing.” We would tend to agree, though we also figure the Rockies are sorta due for an 11-game losing streak, right? Perhaps it’s better to just take the Giants off playoff life support, so fans don’t have to root for Prince Fielder and the Dodgers to derail Colorado’s latest Rocktoberfest.
Entering last night’s game at Arizona, the Giants were 22-0 in games in which they scored at least 8 runs. Matt Cain helped stake himself to an early lead with his first career triple before unraveling to the tune of seven earned runs. Coupled with the Rockies’ wild win over San Diego, the Giants are looking at a less than 2 percent chance of making the playoffs. Yeah, let’s go bowling.
