Michael Crabtree talks are too legit to quit
This story has legs — and baggy pants. Michael Crabtree’s entourage, including Eugene Parker and MC Hammer, met with 49ers representatives at — hold up. WHAT?!?! MC motherflippin’ Hammer is one of Michael Crabtree’s advisers? Really?! Well, why the hell not. We can only guess that the point of the meeting at a Palo Alto hotel today was to work out a deal that would end the 10th overall pick’s prolonged holdout, and not revive Hammer’s music career.
Crabtree’s crew left the hotel around 4 p.m., sprinting away from Niners reporter extraordinaire Matt Maiocco, who staked out the joint and has been Tweeting the action throughout the day. His assessment of Crabtree’s moves? “A lot faster than me. He was wearing dress shoes. I’m wearing my best Asics.” Crabtree must’ve been making a Subway run; the lure of a free $5 footlong is an amazing motivator.
The hilarious exchanges Maiocco describes below would seem to indicate that Crabtree has trusted Hammer to close the deal, and soon. What’s the over-under on the number of times he drops “U Can’t Touch This!” on the Niners’ brass during the negotiations?
