Like Benjamin Button, Jax is regressing in age
Tim Kawakami has the deets on the Stephen Jackson-Don Nelson incident from Friday night. According to Kawakami’s source, Jackson was upset that Nellie wasn’t taking him out despite the fact he was racking up a foul every .03 seconds. Then Nellie put a hand on Jax to console him, forgetting that you do not console Captain Jack:
Jackson immediately roughly brushed off Nelson’s hand, and, according to the source, told him loudly never to do that again and included many more angry words directed at Nelson.
Jackson went to the locker room and stayed there, apparently without further incident. But Warriors management apparently was concerned enough to keep Jackson away from Nelson for at least a few hours.
So that’s how it’s going to be. Jackson is going to stomp around, stick his fingers in his ears and scream all season. Metaphorically. Maybe.
Meanwhile, don’t forget that the reason Jackson has an extension and leverage is because of the Warriors’ wonderful ownership/management team. Today, Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski didn’t hold back while assessing the Golden State situation and owner Chris Cohan: “The worst owner in the NBA is seldom seen or heard, preferring to let a slobbering run of incompetence shape the face of his legacy.”
Wojnarowski has sources who tell him that a “well-moneyed and politically connected Bay Area group,” we assume including Larry Ellison, wants to buy the Warriors and move them to San Francisco. But Geoff Lepper at 48minutes thinks Cohan will hold out for a good price considering the Warriors are one of the few real assets he has left.
What a bunch of stubborn bastards.
